Do you have an idea for a novel but don’t know how to develop it into a manuscript that can compete in today’s publishing landscape?
Have you written a first draft but don’t know how to take it to the next level? Or have you queried your book unsuccessfully and have no clue what to do next?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, book coaching might be for you.
A book coach supports a writer at different stages of the writing process, from developing an idea to polishing a first draft to help with pitching to literary agents. They offer guidance and support, training you to become a better writer and gain confidence in the craft.
I’m a traditionally-published author and an Author Accelerator certified book coach in fiction. As an active member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, I’ve mentored multiple authors and have served as a judge for the Rising Star Award.
When I first started writing in 2015, I had no idea what I was doing, which led me to write a manuscript that did’t work and had to, ultimately, set aside. I know first hand how hard it is to write a novel that can compete in today’s market.
I want to serve female writers because I believe women’s stories are essential during the current times we are living, especially the stories of marginalized women. I want my clients to achieve a finished product that can stand out in the marketplace and reflects their vision and their message.
Note: Book coaching does not guarantee that your book will be published or be successful on the market.
Develop Your Story Idea
Price: $600
Additional deadlines: $250 each
The goal of this package is to lay a strong foundation for your book before you start writing your first draft.
Using Author Accelerator’s Blueprint for a Book System, we’ll dig deep into the fundamentals of your story: your reason for writing it, your ideal reader, the message you are trying to convey, and your protagonist. With the help of the Inside Outline you’ll develop a cause-and-effect trajectory with scenes that tie into the point you’re trying to make.
By the conclusion of this package, you’ll have a clearer idea of your story’s main theme and an outline of the most important scenes that will best showcase it.
This package includes:
Hook Readers with your Opening Pages
Price: $200
The goal of this package is to polish your first 30 pages so that you can hook your reader’s attention from the start and set their expectations for the rest of the story.
I’ll evaluate if your opening pages include the major elements of story (who is your protagonist, what do they want, why do they want it, and what’s standing in their way), as well as effective use of point of view and show vs. tell, and narrative drive.
By the conclusion of this package, you’ll have a better understanding of how to hook readers and keep them interested, and a practical guide on how to revise your opening pages to achieve this.
This package includes:
Ensure your Manuscript Reflects your Vision
Price: $400 (manuscript no greater than 80K words)
$5 extra for every additional 1K words
The goal of this package is to ensure that your manuscript shows a clear and consistent journey for your protagonist, using an effective cause-and-effect trajectory leading to the inevitable climax and a satisfying conclusion.
I’ll evaluate your full manuscript for big-picture items like character arc, plot and stakes. Is the point you’re trying to make coming through? Is it clear and consistent throughout?
By the conclusion of this package, you’ll have the confidence that your story reflects your vision and if it doesn’t, a practical guide on how to make that a reality.
